Since the company would no longer be picking up the tab we were switching to the Barbary Coast – a place we had always wanted to stay. Trying to get everything in order and re-packed was a challenge. But we did it! I wanted to see the feeding of the penguins so I headed down at 8:30 am with DH to watch. Saw a bit and then moved on to check out the pool area – scouting for future trips. Wow there are soo many pools here. Sort of cool – as long as you can find the people you’re looking for. The cabana’s looked like they would be fun! Grabbed a muffin and went back to the room to eat since our next meal wouldn’t be for a few hours. After all this we go back to the room to get ready and move our stuff over. As it turns out we were able to check in early! That was great – gave us a chance to get set up and settle in. Then we made the trek from the BC to the Peppermill. Wow what a walk. It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed the quietness of the streets. That was our first walk that far north down the strip on this trip. We never actually did go into the Wynn this trip. Next time I really want to check it out. So we made the never ending walk to the Peppermill and found our friends. I can’t believe the amount of food you get with your meal. Who can actually eat all this? Based on Hurricane Mikey’s recommendation DH had the Southern Fried Steak and Eggs for breakfast and I had the El Dorado Omelet. Both very good – but who can eat all this food!!!! We enjoyed out visit with our Las Vegas friends. They are great! It’s nice to get a local perspective and I think they enjoy seeing things from the tourist point of view. They were very surprised by how much we knew about Vegas. Hmm wonder if that could be a result of our Vegas obsession and all the talk boards. Crazy!!!
From there we went back to their house to see the changes they had made to their new house since our trip two years ago. The landscaping was just about finished – it is so nice to see things that are green in January! The had made an addition of their shed in the back – which could double as a mini house and a beautiful china cabinet which was part of their previous home. Sometimes it’s just nice to get off the strip and all the craziness.

We enjoyed a visit with them at their house and then decided to go to the Luxor where we had never been. We ended up in the Mandalay Bay parking garage, I had never been in such a large one before. Course we never have a car in Vegas… As we made our way through MB DH needed a beer. (I think he just wanted to show off his beer getting skills) Once he had his beer we made our way to the Luxor to check things out. It wasn’t bad – maybe it was the day that we were there but it just seemed to missing the vibe for me. This was a low gambling day, mostly sight seeing. The Luxor does have some cool things on the second level. I think it would be fun to do the video that they had flying over the strip – but I would have to be half cut to participate! We made our way over to Excalibur via the tram where we ran into a couple who said they just got engaged. I think said there is still time to get out… j/k We had to take some dragon pictures for my youngest daughter. After a short tour of the casino we headed back to the Luxor – after we finally found our way to the tram station. Which is in a different place than where you get off…. While we were waiting we made dinner plans to go to a nice Italian place off the strip. A couple beside us was “sucking face” which our friends found funny. It was all in the way they were doing it – must have been their first time.

Enjoyed a nice dinner and had my Mai Tai which I only seem to have with Emily. Boy was it strong and yummy. It was a wonderful evening with great conversation and food. By this time we were ready to get back to the strip and our check out our new room at the Barbary Coast. They dropped us off at the strip mall behind the BC so we could re-stock our room with liquor and made the walk through the Stage Door Casino to remind our selves why we don’t ever go there. (the fact that they call it a casino is pretty funny in the first place)

The view from our room (212) was great!
After a change in clothes we made our way through Bellagio to the tram to the Monte Carlo to get to the Boardwalk. The Bellagio was in the process of changing to a Chinese New Years display. So cool how big everything is and how fast things change in Vegas. This is DH’s least favorite walk over to the tram – claims it is shorter to walk to the Monte Carlo instead of taking the tram. I am inclined to agree with him – except that you miss all the people watching, the conservatory and the smell of the chocolate shop!

The main reason for our trek on this night was to make our way to the Boardwalk on their last full night of operation. And as soon as we got in – I knew I had to play Silver Strike. And sure enough I put in $5 and won!!! Well that was a sign! DH was busy playing and I thought I would try the machines near the front even though they had changed since my last visit – I’ve had good luck there. Well now it’s ‘The Price Is Right’. Which I never have any good luck at. Well wouldn’t you know it I’m up $10 so I decide to cash out. Big mistake – this is a hand pay machine. Well try to get a hand pay on the last night of it being open. Waited like half an hour. Well after that I check out BJ – all the open tables were 6/5 so forget it! This was one of those nights where I had great luck played a lot of quarter machines and did fairly well. Paid for our treats at the Deli that night. Oh yes the Deli… Well since it was the last night for it, DH wanted some pictures of the menu. So he takes our digital camera while I’m off checking out some machines and takes some pictures. The deli has a fair number of people there and he gets his shots. He is then waiting for his order when this security guard comes running over – in a stern voice asking who has a camera – “I saw a flash – who has the camera”.. The place was silent – not one person ratted DH out. Which he thought was cool. The conspiracy against the angry security guard. I’m surprised he could see a flash what with the flashing lights of the Deli. He sure took his job seriously – I wonder what he would do if someone ever got drunk and rowdy there…. We ended it off on a high note and left the Boardwalk… well at least I won at Silver Strike – my final memory!

From there we walked back, making our way through Paris. It was great to enjoy the smell of the coffee as we walked through. Using my French skills we were able to navigate through the casino to Bally’s. We stayed and played at Bally’s for a bit. Nothing too exciting either except that DH found his favorite slot games. These are the same ones he first found at 4 Queens that are “ergonomically” correct. They aren’t too bad! It seems they are making their way across to casino’s since we discovered them at Barbary Coast as well. Pretty soon it was time to return ‘home’. For old time sake we took the long walk out on the moving ped way and across in stead of using the pedestrian light on Flamingo.

I must say we have a great room! Loved it! Nice big plasma TV which we really only used for music. The only down fall that I can think of might be the noise from the strip. But really when you are tired in Vegas – you sleep – or pass out as the case may be. Of course in the spring/summer I do like to have a pool for morning recovery time.

Day 4 - Down and Dirty

Saturday January 7, 2006

Hotel: Flamingo
Breakfast: Main Street Station Brunch
Meals: Gold Spike – Shrimp cocktail!
Boardwalk – munchies

This is our downtown day. We really enjoy the downtown and our goal this trip was to have a look around before we got half corked. DH gave me a bit of time to sleep in and headed over to the TI to cash in a ticket he had from the previous night. I guess I had the mindset that sleeping was for back home and started getting ready. So when he got back I was ready to go. Went down to check out the cab line at the Flamingo which wasn’t too bad. DH, who hates lines, thought he would go over to the BC to check out the cab situation there. I ended up calling him as I got closer to the front of the line. So we were off – had a great cab driver (not one bad one here yet!). He told us of the story of the drunk girl and her boyfriend who he picked up from a strip club. Well needless to say she was just a little too drunk and they had to pull over a few times to let her get sick. Well every time she bent out the door her skirt went higher and higher. By the time they reached the hotel her skirt was more like a belt and he said the view wasn’t too pretty. He jumped out to tell her boyfriend to avoid some embarrassment when they arrived at the hotel. The boyfriend attempted to be discrete, however the drunk girl would have nothing of it and made a big scene about her boyfriend touching her butt and marched right through the hotel lobby showing everything she’s got! lol So when we arrived I asked the cabbie – my skirt isn’t way up is it? Too funny!

Brunch at Main Street Station was great! The best service and food, I love this place. Our server made sure we were well stocked with champagne (which isn’t as good as Bally’s – but it won’t stop me) and we were able to sit and relax and enjoy our food. Oh and I didn’t have to compete with porn stars for DH’s attention. After our lengthy breakfast we headed out to the casino floor played a little got ourselves another drink. I thought we were going to stay sober for this trip downtown, while in Rome… So after donating some money to the MSS we wandered over to the California for a little tour and then to the Freemont. We had never really checked that place out. Now from what I remember it was a dark place with really low ceilings. DH figures that if you wanted to hide some where this would be the perfect place. I guess I’ll know where to find him when he runs away to Vegas… From there DH wanted to see the difference between LaBayou and Mermaids. I really hate both these stinky joints. But since we were there I thought I’d get the famous deep fried Twinkies and Oreo’s… YUMMY! Well since I’ve had the Ho Dawg I thought I could eat these too – not. One bite was enough. But I did give it away to this nice couple. I hope they didn’t spend there next day cursing me with stomach troubles! From there we headed up to Fitzgerald’s this as a rule is our favorite place downtown. DH wanted to check out the balcony and did that. However there was no drink service. Now this was so out of character for the Fitz. Hmm so we went out and headed over to 4 Queens where the drink service was great. We discovered some new machines that are ergonomic??? What is this world coming to – healthy gambling! Crazy! But we had to try them and they were pretty good to us – let us play with a bit of pay and great drink service. I was getting hungry so we went over to the Gold Spike to settle an argument that had been on going since our last trip. DH was pretty loaded last time we were at the Gold Spike and was positive we ate at a different place… I hate to prove him wrong and all but…. So I showed him and said – remember that is where you fell off your chair. lol It was too funny. Order the jumbo shrimp and the combo shrimp and DH had the Meatball soup. Good little meal. From there we spent the rest of our time at the Las Vegas Club. I like this place more and more. We stayed here last August for one night and it was great. Played my fav slot game while DH went to find the Star Wars slot. He came back with the story of this hooker who had found this ‘older’ john who was using a walker. Well his eyesight must have been terrible cause she was not pretty. Ohhh I felt sorry for her. What a life. It was time to head back to the strip… I found us a cab at LV Club. This cabbie was great too. Mario was from Mexico and we had a great talk about the AVN convention.

Back to Flamingo and I told DH that I was just going across the street to watch the fountains. I love them and since it was already Saturday I wanted to make sure I got to see one show! Good think I did – this was about the only show I saw – other than from my room. DH joined me and we made our way to the Boardwalk to enjoy it before it too was gone.

After taking the long walk through Bellagio to catch the tram we made our way through the Monte Carlo with fond memories of our past stay. It was sad going to the Boardwalk knowing it was in it’s last days… A visit to the Deli resulted in some of our favorite foods. We then hung out for a bit then headed back and played at the Flamingo and BC. Let’s just say we weren’t ahead after this day. Time for bed – those windows give you an interesting view!!!

Here is one of DH's favorite quick meals...

Day 3 Porn Stars for Dinner

Friday January 6

Breakfast: Room Service (Fruit Bowl and Coffee) and Burger King
Dinner: Grand Lux (with all the Porn Stars)
Hotel: Flamingo

http://www.pastrywiz.com/dailyrecipes/images/439.jpg

Morning! Breakfast time! Well after yesterday’s yummy room service meal we decided to keep with just a fruit bowl and coffee and run down to Java Coast to pick up some muffins… Well they were all out of muffins so DH ran down to O’Shea’s and pick up Burger King breakfast – which was a little gross except for the mini-cinnamon buns – they were pretty good warm. Then DH got ready for the conference and headed out – leaving me with strict instructions to restock the room and pick up the gifts for the kids. So off I headed down to the ABC stores at the Aladdin and bought some souvies and beer for the room. It was a long walk back with such a heavy load. Crazy Canadian – anything for some good beer! I was back at the room at 11:50 am knowing I had 10 min before I was suppose to meet with Love2winalot…. So I thought I’d freshen up and then head down. Well give a girl sometime! Jeepers a girl can’t even be fashionably late!!! All of a sudden my cell phone rings and it’s guess who saying I’m waiting for you by the spinning wheel wearing my short shorts and player shirt. Hmmm should I really be meeting this guy from the internet? What am I getting myself into??? Well I thought, I’m a tough Canadian girl I can take this guy… No worries! I ride down the elevator with dread filling my head worried and preparing to put on my best face. Walking through the casino I spot him lurking around the table taking some kind of notes… Well I’m here now so let’s go meet him. I walk up to shake his hand and he grabs me… OK I’ve made some of this up. Sir Winalot is a nice guy for the most part – I still owe him a punch in the arm for his Oprah comment on the LVTalk board. We moved to Bugsy’s bar and had a beer. Which I needed to fight off the night before shakes! After some discussion we head over to Casino Royale to play Roulette where he would become the teacher and I the student. Hmmm interesting theory. So after a drunk Canadian put on a display at our table (NO not me!!!) and my husband came back from the conference we finished up even. Not bad for a couple of hours at the table. We watched a lot of people come and go from the table – mostly down so I consider that a win. Had Sir Win brought his sheet we would have played a little differently, but I still learned a lot about him. Especially what he normally does with his afternoon TV time!

DH and I thought we would play a slot before leaving CR and tried our luck with Dirty Harry… We sure didn’t feel lucky enough – oh well time to go back to the room to get pretty for dinner. That night was the Grand Lux at the Venetian – talk about an eye full there. Of course with the AVN awards and show going on the restaurant was filled up with the porn industry people. Very interesting. May I say it was difficult for my husband to concentrate. Not that I can blame him with half naked well endowed girls running around. Some I must say were very attractive but there were a few that aren’t in the business because of their looks. The meal was good – but I must say I am tired of eating in places that you feel like you are in a feed lot. (Sorry for the cattle reference, it’s a local thing). Main Street Station seems to carry way more atmosphere than any place I’ve eaten on the strip. I guess I’m not going to the right places yet!

After dinner we thought we would walk around and check out a few places down at this end. So off to the TI which we really enjoyed. Then to Mirage for a bit. Played a bit at both places and ended up about even. Found my Slotto game – yay! Caesar’s Palace was the killer of the night. Now I’m not sure what it is but DH has some bad karma when it comes to this place – so let’s just say shortly after entering the new shops it was time to back to the room. DH was in bed by 9:30… well Vegas time is too precious to be a sleep that early on a Friday! So I went back down to the casino and thought I would phone my French friend and see what he was up to. Funny he was just leaving the Hard Rock and heading over to see me in a cab. Great timing. We spent the rest of the evening talking and a little bit gambling. Had my first ride – on the monorail! Not bad… Pretty smooth. Now if they had a stop at the Wynn it would be so much better. Ended up at the Sahara – wow this place really hasn’t changed. My French friend tells me has a room on the third floor with a balcony that has a view of the garbage…. Nice! Oh and he is paying $250 a night… Sweet!!! I took the monorail back around 1 am played a bit at the Barbary Coast and enjoyed a Dirty Martini then it was off to bed for me.

Day 2 - Vegas Baby!

Thursday January 5

Hotel: Flamingo
Meals: Room Service
Margaretville

Well I woke up in Vegas – how much better could it be!! Ordered some room service for breakfast sent my husband off to the CES convention and headed down for some esthetic services – pause to remember the pain – she was actually good I might go back next trip! Checked out the wildlife habitat since those little penguins will be gone next trip. Followed that with a trip to the Forum for some shopping. Played the pinball machine and won $100 on a quarter slot (that was my third spin). WOW!!! Good start. I cash out and head back to the hotel.

Met up with my husband who was red-eyed and tired at the hotel. He decided to have a nap and I decided I wanted to go play. Dang it I had been in Vegas for 12 hours with out any drinks!! So I headed off to play some BJ. Stopped first at the Monopoly machines to play and called Red made plans to call her in an hour. Right after that SHF called! Wow this was cool. I was drinking and gambling and talking to my ‘internet’ friends. lol From there I moved on the $5 black jack table and found a great table with two retired teachers – they were sweet and helped me practice my strategy. Very patient – I guess that’s why there were teachers! I ended up $60 up when the table went cold and we all said bye, bye!

Well time to call Red… She is on her way to the strip so I quickly call DH who is at Casino Royale and told him I needed to get to the room quick and change. (didn’t want to disappoint her with my image…) So then we were off to Margaretville for a bite to eat and some pre-drinking food. After close to an hour we moved on to the “library”… Off to the first stop in our search – Tao to check out the cool bathroom. Well Red is great at walking in like she owns the place makes herself right at home and walks straight to the bathroom to check things out. Then we do a quick tour of the joint where she goes up to a table of two guys (one is on the phone) and she says to the other he must be from New York right? I loved it! So this is how things are done in Vegas – fun and sassy – just my style. So after this we head to La Scena in Venetian – now that was another great experience. No where to sit! So what are two thirsty girls in Vegas to do? Well Red finds a place to sit down which happens to be at a table where two young fellows happen to be sitting with two open chairs… Alright then I decide right there I’m going to follow her lead! After a drink the guys leave the table and we have it all to ourselves. We sat and enjoyed the dancing of this beautiful lady. What made her so great and beautiful? Well she was dancing like no one was looking and was the envy of every person there. Especially every suit who is too worried about what they look like getting down on the dance floor. It was wonderful – so of course we couldn’t just sit there! Off we went to do our thing on the dance floor with her and give her the official bow to her dance power! It was great and the band was cool. Ahhh heaven! Well we return to our seats and order another beverage (not cheap I must remind you) and look at the table of obvious CES goers who had a magazine from the AVN (lovingly referred to as the porn show) convention so I asked Red to have them pass it on over. It was too funny. They guys were more than willing to share and I of course did my part to have a good look – I even had to adjust the magazine sideways to have a good look…. Let’s just say after that a fellow from another table came over to feed me a line… As Red said – at least buy the girl a drink! We were out of there!

Over to Sephora where Red helped me find a new fragrance and do my makeup. How cool was that – here we are in Sephora (and it is true – she does sort of glaze over and shake as we enter the store) drinking Martini’s and acting like we own the place… Sweet! So here I am all dolled up and finished my Martini – hmmm I need another beverage! Off to Carnival Court – quiet crowd but of course that isn’t going to stop us! We had a great time enjoying the Flare bartenders. Course I was sitting beside some guy who claimed to own strip clubs in Montana – he was wearing this shirt that said I love Hot Mom’s….

Venue change – off we go again! This time over to Toby Keith’s - wooowww! It was great…. We had a great time dancing! I never knew Red was so talented, I had forgotten about line dancing! I have a lot to learn before May! The band was great – Red went to get a drink for us from the bar and some nice fellows from Texas bought them for us!!! How sweet – I could get use to this! Shortly after my French friend showed up… Interesting what happens when they play “I love this bar” well Red wouldn’t let me get away without taking part – so here I am leaning back and some young girl is standing over me in a short skirt pouring a shot into my mouth. Oh my!!!! We don’t do things like that back in Saskatchewan! Convinced my French friend to dance – taught him to two step in three easy steps – it was great fun! A few more drinks and a bit of dancing and we headed out. Met up with DH at the piano bar also at Harrah's. Had another drink and then we made our way back to our room trying our luck at a few slots. It was a great night and I was home in bed before 2 am!!! Such a good girl…..

Day 1 - Travel to Vegas....

January 4, 2005

Yesterday was a hard day. I took the kids to meet up with their Aunt, Uncle and Cousins. I’m excited about the trip but can hardly get over leaving them behind. Hannah was so sad the night before – it finally hit her that we’re leaving. I went to her room and she was crying saying I’m going to miss my Daddy! What a heart breaker! It is good for them to learn a bit of independence but it is sooo tough to watch. She made Daddy a little note to take with him saying how much she loves him. Sweet. I put a few in their bags to find later in the week. Jessica doesn’t seem to totally understand that we will be gone for a week – she is just excited to go to the farm and see her cousins and all the animals. Drove up to Davidson, the half way point between our two locations and met Rob’s sister and brother in law for lunch. The cousins all sat at one table and the grown ups had our own, when did they all grow up? After lunch all the kids went into the truck and after loading all their gear I gave them a big kiss and hug and jumped into the van before I burst into tears…. Better for them not to see their Mommy all upset. Do you ever get over saying good bye to your kids?

Got back to Regina went and picked up Rob from work. It was so strange to come home to an empty house. Even Rob missed the noise! So after a nervous night it was time for bed. Took me a bit to fall asleep and then I was out like a light – drained from the emotions earlier in the day. However Rob had a bit more difficulty falling asleep and maybe got three hours compared to my five. Morning came quickly as the alarm rang at 4:14 am – went to wake Rob who had finally fallen asleep on the couch. He sprang into action like a super hero – he was transforming into ‘Vegas Bobby’. “What is the real time?” he asked me. 4:15 I replied. Up he rose with the speed of The Flash he was ready, even had time for a cup of coffee before we left for the plane. It was 5:10 am when we left for the airport – the roads were blanketed with fog putting visibility at around 25 meters. He checked in and was ready to go through security so I was off to finish off some minor details at work… Best time to be there when everyone else is gone. Started watching the Airport Web Cam – very exciting. Didn’t see a thing! Silly camera is just set up at one gate…

Back at home I finished off my emails and tried to get some sleep – no luck with that, too many phone calls etc. What else does a girl do before a trip when she can’t sleep? I went shopping! Picked up a few last minute items for the trip. Called my friend Shelly, we went for lunch then she drove me to the airport. Arrived at the airport at 1:20pm – my flight didn’t leave until 3:10 pm for some reason I thought it left half an hour early. I was excited to have some time to write before the trip. A very helpful young man (man I’m getting old) helped me print my ticket and check my two bags. From there I went to the duty free shop – bought some gum, mints and Vodka Citron – thought we would give that a try this trip. The lady at duty free was a tough cookie but I warmed her up, feeling all happy I made my way to security…

Good Afternoon the nice young lady said, since you’re flying to the United States you’ve been selected for a random security check. GREAT! We will need to go through all you’re carry on luggage. Fine I thought…. So I make my way through the metal detector with a little beep – which checks out fine. Then head over to the lady who asks me to sit on the cold metal chair and remove my shoes. Which they scan as well as the bottoms of my feet. She then asks me if I would prefer to go into the back room for the upper torso pat down – I like the public quick and dirty so we do it there. Then the nice gent goes through my electronics (lap top, mp3 player, camera…) and the female officer goes through my bag. Am I ever glad that I came nice and early. Once I made it through security I had lots of time to sit and write. I love writing but rarely get time to do it.

Met up with my husband’s co-worker and were then called to the gate to board. Waited for duty free – she forgot mine – ahhhh yes just my luck. So they let me board and then brought my liquor just before take off. I had a great seat, right behind first class in a row all by myself. EXCELLENT…. The flight went smooth and landed in Minneapolis on time. The jet way wouldn’t level off so a mechanic had to be called; I think we waited on the plane for at least 20 minutes. Got off went through US Customs and then to the Split Rock for a bite to eat. Made some phone calls to see where everyone was at. My husband was in Vegas and had just finished his meal at Bally’s. SHF – where was he? Ignoring me? Hmmm – oh well left him a message he sounded pretty hot and has the same name of a guy I went to elementary school. Weird! I walked to the gate since my feet were sore and my backpack heavy. There was a huge group of people mixed with CES “geeks” and AVN “porn” types. Interesting mix. Rob’s co-worker Lisa noted that a few people were there from last year. We joked that given my past luck they would end up sitting beside me. Things worked out great – I had a window seat and was seated by a nice French guy from Montreal and an American living in Europe. We were pretty rowdy on the plane and I’m sure we pissed a few people off with our occasional laughter on the 3 hour flight. It was great!!! Arrival in Vegas went smooth – my luggage was always last and so Lisa checked out the taxi line a THREE HOUR wait! And this was at midnight. So the shuttle seemed like a better option with an hour wait. Off we went maybe took 20 min and we were on the shuttle. I get to the Flamingo and off to my room 26062. Rob who had arrived earlier was no where to be found – I called and called but he didn’t have his phone set to vibrate and couldn’t hear it over the casino noise. So I sat and waited outside the room watching a movie. I saw the line downstairs and didn’t want to go through that. Finally he came – got my message. Ushered me into the room with a beautiful view! SWEET!!!! Enjoyed the view for a bit – checked out Rob’s very red eyes and then headed out to find some food. Ended up at Burger King for some grub. So picture this: Rob is pretty juiced and the cashier is mentally challenged – their conversation was hilarious. I had to step in – too funny. Back to the room and off to sleep – ahhh Vegas. Oh and we learned not to close the blinds so we actually wake up in the morning!!!

T-4

So what do you do when you are 4 days away from going to Vegas??? I can't even believe that in 7 days I'll be in Vegas... There is just too much going on and part of me would rather stay home and settle down before this trip - but it won't happen.

So speaking of Christmas - everyone has their story right? Well how shall I begin - OK when was the last time I was at a loss for words???

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring except... sorry! wrong story.

Christmas Eve as usual was crazy. Which I don't mind, I actually like a little craziness - for a change people were nice to each other and everyone seemed to smile more. Well except for at home, where my law and order husband awaited with his list. Everything needed to go according to plan, which of course did not happen. I think he was confused when he married me, thought he could change me, yeah right. So it goes the normal activities: meal, church, kids to bed. Get ready for Santa and then out for the night. Christmas day had it's share of surprises enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with neighbours and then packed out sleigh, er van and headed on our way. Off to the North Pole, oh I mean Saskatoon to spend the next four days and three nights with the in-laws. Well the recreation director (Mother in Law) was in fine form, ready with the first meal of the many fattening days to come. After enjoying a very quick drink the food was presented and enjoyed by all. Day 2, all the immediate family draws near opens presents and gifts from Santa (he get's around more than my college friends)we drink, eat and drink some more. Ahh and here I sit. After coaxing my youngest to bed at midnight I sit and ponder the days behind and to come. The noise in the kitchen has finally stopped, I have often wondered if my Mother In Law ever slept. Last night my youngest asked me if Santa would come because she could hear the sounds of a diner (my Mother In Law in the kitchen) I told her they would go to bed soon - when she woke up she could hear the same sounds, she said "Mom they didn't go to sleep". It was the cutest thing!

So I have the big family Christmas thing tomorrow and then the madness ends for another year. You must understand I love people and my in laws but for an only child this gets stressful. We always stay with my in-laws and this means I have no space of my own... hold on one more day.

Every now and then I must get that far away look when I think about the fun we'll have in Vegas. And then there are other moments when I just would like an hour or two to myself at home with a good book.... Does this make any sense? It's 1:30 am and I better get to sleep!!!!

T-15 Days

WOW! What a surprise! We are going to Vegas in 15 days! I can hardly keep track with the craziness of Christmas and all! Thank goodness.... otherwise I would be going crazy. Hopefully I'll be prepared. They say it's cold there but there is no way it can be as cold as it is here!!!!

So what is my list to do this time around? In no particular order:
1. Well I plan to get a Wynn players card to add to the collection
2. Visit the Boardwalk before it closes to play and eat at the Deli
3. Bellagio Fountains - I never get sick of seeing this great show
4. Ride to Monorail
5. See the downtown with morning clarity
6. Check out Toby Keith's place
7. Hmmm well this is an interesting concept... Does it apply to the Mecca? To my beloved Vegas? Well of course if I lived there, perhaps... However being that it's rare to find a direct flight to Vegas and never mind trying to find a deal ---- there is no chance of there being too much Vegas for me! So here we are looking at another countdown only 197 days till Vegas. It seems far off and some people would say why start counting already? It is November 12th which means I have months ahead of winter.... I mean so cold that it hurts to breath, snow to shovel and cars to push out of snow drifts... So why do I still live here? That is another topic for another day.

Right now this is the time to start talking about flights and hotel. Let me begin by saying that I am meeting up with some of my internet friends... I know I'm a computer geek - but that's OK. So this is all about coordinating schedules and working toward a common goal. Having a great time in Vegas!!!

I know this is short and I've been away for a while - but that's all for now folks!

Google this

Google gone wrong?

Do you ever find that you pick up a nasty habit? I mean one that most people don't know about and you're sure that other people do and no one talks about (no I don't mean picking your nose!!!) Well here I am about to admit mine... I google everyone. Yes that's right. If you're my friend I've probably googled you. Usually I come up with nothing - now and then a few innocent pictures. You just never know what you're going to find. It's so useful at work - great way to get background info on people you have meetings with - always nice to bring up topics you know they're interested in. Well as some people know the Google is more than just that - it has some cool tricks that I love to try! Thought I would include some for your googling pleasure!

Try typing in Elmer Fudd and then click "I'm Feeling Lucky", also try Miserable Failure and organized crime. Aren't they cleaver!

Of course there is always the Google Game.

Have you ever tried to enter a bar code from a Wal Mart product? Well it's suppose to give you the item description - not sure if it does I haven't tried this yet.

Looks like I might have another Vegas count down! Only 7 months to go!

Gobble, Gobble!

Mmmmm Turkey!

One of the best blogs that I've seen (JJ yours is great too but PT is more regular...)

Thought I would include some more Vegas pictures for those of you who are interested!

The Limo and Bill our driver!

The Luxor and Mandalay Bay

Green Valley Ranch

The Wynn

The Wynn

I'm back....

So I've been a little slack in updating the blog. Well I've been very busy - just hired a secretary for myself so things are looking up. I still have two weeks until she starts but there is hope!!!

This is the Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada so tomorrow I'll be getting up early and putting the turkey in the oven and making stuffing! This is one of my favorite meals so I don't mind making it and the leftovers will be great. This will be a little different experience with only the four of us here to enjoy the meal. Seems a lot of changes have happened since last thanksgiving some good some not so good.

77 Days till Christmas! Wow - time to start thinking about hanging lights and shopping. And time to plan the next Vegas trip. Well there is some debate in our house as to when that will be. My husband who we'll call Darwin (see: Bewitched) has a work trip planned to Vegas in January. I was planning one in May to meet up with my Internet friends.... I know it seems weird but really I spend most of my time at work so the Internet is my only outlet - these people truly are my friends. Course I have to convince my husband and the rest of the free world that I'm not crazy!!!!

Here are some of my fall pictures -- gotta love a nice fall day!

Room with a view

OK so the first night was spent at the Las Vegas Club. After a 7 hour drive from Saskatoon and leaving the sweetest girls on the planet we arrived in our hotel room in Calgary. Since our flight left early we thought we would try to get some sleep before our 4 am wake up call. Didn't work for me I was all nervous about leaving the girls and the flight.... But enjoyed not being too rushed and relaxing in the pool that evening. Saw an old friend who we don't to see as often since he moved to be with his wonderful wife in Calgary. All in all not alot happened - did some shopping at a store that we don't have in Regina called IKEA - not sure if they have it in the states since some of you have asked what it is....
IKEA

We woke up at 4am showered and got ready for the airport shuttle. There were a couple other people on the shuttle but no one as excited as we were! Although we were still pretty tired and thought we better behave through security....

I'll post Saturday tomorrow....

T -00000

Seems I might be offending some with my content so I'll stop now and maybe add some candy filler later...

I'm leaving

Yes here it is - my last day before the plane takes off (with me in it)!

Woo Hoo!

So for the next 7 hours I will stuck in a van with two great guys. (I'm buttering them up now so that they'll actually stop when I need to pee!!!!) As we drive from Saskatoon to Calgary I hope to get a little extra sleep in. Once we arrive - it's a quick trip to IKEA then off to the hotel. We'll be meeting up with some friends of ours for supper and then try to get some sleep!!!! Tomorrow at this time the plane will be in the air and I will be counting the minutes (or hours) until we are in Vegas!!!!!!!!! YES! Finally it's here. Thanks to PT I'm going to try the elevator trick and I'll let you know how that goes.

Right now I'm struggling with leaving my kids - don't want to start crying or I know I won't stop! This is going to be a great week for them too - I'm sure they will have to go through sugar-detox when we get back! Oh well I'll be detox too... Should be one cranky household!!!!!!!

OK I can't concentrate to finish this off. Just picture me scantly clad drinking and having fun in Vegas..... I'll post some real pictures when I get back!

Take Care and stay out of trouble!!!!!!!!! Cause I won't be!

T - 5

Where has the time gone?? All this time spent talking about panties and buffet's has come down to this. It's Sunday night I'm sitting here in my PJ's and I can't sleep. Sure I'm tired but everytime I lay down I start to shake. It could have something to do with what I had for supper but I'm so excited I can hardly sleep! People keep saying so for your next trip you'll go some where else right? Well really we should. Starting to look like the degenrates that we are! Oh well...

A week from Monday I will be meeting with my Las Vegas Talk friends.... a little nervous about that! You know on line everything is fine and dandy but once they meet the real me - who knows! Sure I won't match the picture in their minds but can I live up to the banter? Ahh should be fun, I'm just nervous!

So I've been checking out people's recent Vegas pic's and looking for what to wear. It seems that I could show up in my Daisy Duke's and fit right in! Really anything goes so I'm not as worried about that anymore. The underwear is still an issue and for those of you who voted comando I think not - sorry PT but I'd rather go thong...

The last trip I took to Vegas I had these great shoes. Had a bit of a heal and didn't look like great walking shoes but my feet were never sore. Well they've aged so my hubby sent them to the shoe doctor. She say's "How much do you want to spend?" He says "How much work could you do on them?" She says "Upwards of $100." After she picks him up from the floor she says "but it's up to you." Well he considers his wife and her happy feet and says "OK up to $60 but no more."
This should be enough to cover the nails (or what ever the metal was that was coming up through the heal) and make them Vegas friendly. The importance of shoes and I've left it to the last minute!!!

Things I have left to do:

Pick up body lotion, shampoo and conditioner
Last load of laundry and then pack for good
Clean my purse out
Buy a little black book to take notes in (if I'm not too drunk)
I know there is more and that's why I can't sleep.......

T - 11

It is really here. In 11 days I will be in Vegas. Wow!
So tonight in order to get ready I'm about to lay out all my clothes and items for the trip. Why so early you may ask? Let's just say that next week is a mess and this weekend we are away with the out-laws (opps - was that my outside voice?)
So the only real time I have is this week - I want to make sure that I don't forget something or need something that I should buy before we go.

Here are a few sites that will help you with the packing...
One bag
Interesting video
How to pack for Vegas

This will give me a bit of time to pick all the necessary lotions (Vegas is very dry!) and potions I need before the big trip.

This is short and sweet - if you want something to read check out my friends blogs:PT and JJ

But in all honesty - I'm a last minute packer and I think I'll head to bed now...

T - 14

How do you measure time? It seems to me that time is in fact not standard or linear. It works in its own way depending on a situation. Take a check out line. It never fails when I'm in a hurray the line takes forever!!! Now a vacation on the other hand goes by way too fast. Kids always put it in perspective. Even as we start to pull out of the drive way I hear them asking are we there yet? Well we too would be asking the same question if anyone would answer us... Vegas is only 14 days away. Sometimes that seems like forever and at other moments I'm in a panic thinking about what I have left to do!

So speaking of the count down in the next few days I have some vital Vegas shopping to complete. The usual shampoos, conditioner and lotions of course. Then there are a few other items. You see it's a different place you can get away with a bit more. Soooo in that vain I've done a few things that I don't normally do. Tan of course - I might be from the Great White North but I don't need to look like it. Hoser!

Really I never thought I would be so vain (well OK I know I had it in me - just don't have the time). So suddenly I've become high maintenance.... Wow - from the girl who spent more time getting ready to go train here I am - hair colour, tan and who knows what else!!!!

So I guess we are down to the final countdown and time for me to make a list and check it twice - if you are sensitive guys - look away...
- pick up new "under garments" (panties, bras etc.)
- new tank tops that are cool and sexy
- point sweater to wear in the cold casinos
- foundation
- shoe check...
- personal grooming
- pedicure & manicure
- pre-pack (yes I need to do a run through on what I want to take to Vegas)

Well that's a start not complete yet! I am so excited only 14 days until I'm in the city where anything goes!!!!

T - 18

Sorry but until I can get all my stuff together I thought I would give you (Bulldog) something to look at...

And for the ladies

T - 21

Glow sticks.. who knew. I bought them for them for the kids - but presto - add about 6 Mike's Hard Lemonade and about 4 beer and they are worth a lifetime of entertainment. I found all new places to put those little light sticks (and it's not as bad as you think...well maybe it is) so for those of you who were already passed out - you missed a good show. It was a good week spent at a friend's cabin. Great weather, good friends and a few beverages. Ahh after my first night's escapades I settled in to deal with the morning after pain. Ohhh was I hurting.

I learned a lot this week -
1. Friendships change over time - sometime for the better some times not
2. I have great breasts - coming from a self professed breast expert
3. Nothing makes kids happier than toads, minnows and a good yard sale
4. Water sitting under a kids pool for a couple of days really stinks
5. Glow sticks are fun for the whole family

So here it is 21 days until Vegas! It is just starting to hit home.... I can't wait after hearing from my LVTalk friend Lisa things are starting to come together. I'm starting to plan things for the trip - exciting!

As it stands:
Saturday
Arrive in Vegas - Main Street Station buffet
Check into Las Vegas Club
Have the shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate

Sunday:
Check out of LV Club and move to the strip - Monte Carlo
Enjoy and check out the strip

Monday:
Meet up with Lisa and head to GVR
Over to the LV Club meet at the Polo Towers

Tuesday:
Pool day and meet up with friends of ours from Vegas

Wednesday:
Last full day in Vegas - go hard!!!

Thursday:
Get late check out and get ready for the midnight flight

T - 29

Working out in Vegas....

OK well that just seems wrong. I hear of people that are out jogging at 6:00 am down the strip. But I've never seen one - come on I usually just went to bed! Really in all my years of training I've had to get up at 4 am to go run up and down a hill for a couple of hours but on holidays???

SO a little background for those of you who don't know me well. Back in my youth I participated in the Canadian Winter Games in the sport of biathlon. And I use to row as a lightweight for the Regina Rowing Club. Ahh my youth - so the point of all this is that I use to be pretty dedicated. But there is a time and place for everything.

My routine while in Vegas will be something like this.

Saturday
- arrive in Vegas - take Limo to hotel (make limo driver carry heavy luggage)
- walk to MSS for buffet
- Eat and drink at steady rate (good way to get the heart rate up)
- Cool down and walk to other establishments to repeat the process.

Hmmm I don't think I need to go on - it really is just more of the same. Eat, drink, walk, and sleep. Ohhh and some pool time in there as well!

Perhaps I will need to bring my fat pants (sorry that just what I call my sweats)

T - 30

How to stay cool in Vegas. This is a question I keep asking myself. As the temp heats up here I wonder how I am going to do it in Vegas. I want to enjoy the alcoholic beverages but realize that I will need to keep a steady intake of water. And considering that most casino's keep their bathrooms far away from the door. I'm sure to get a lot of exercise. I think I should name this trip Weezy's Official Bathroom tour. Sounds interesting.... Just another reason to bring good shoes. Which I don't yet have!

So another problem arises and that is the air conditioning. Which I will be happy to have - but that means carrying a sweater for inside. What a pain. Oh well it could be worse, I could be shoveling snow!

So I need help in what to wear....

There is the good ol' Tube Top which I wore back when I was... well I guess that I've never worn a tube top. Nice for some 18 year old girl - but there are some people who just shouldn't wear them...

I'm more of a tank top girl - I love them. I would wear them all summer if I could. Work, home, the bar - they are great. But cold! Bulldog I would need your
sweater!

Perhaps at night I would go for the sheer shirt. Something that I could dress up but still keep cool in. Not sure how I'm going to manage in between the cool air of the casino and balance with the furnace like dry heat of the desert!

At the pool a bikini would be the best thing - always difficult to find for me. This is when I wish I were an A cup! Lucky girls! I think I will stick with the one piece - less chance to burn.

That's all folks - I guess I'll end up with the sweater set....

Sorry no links tonight - I'll have to leave that to PT he's the links man!

T - 32

Ah ha! I thought that would catch your eye! Well as we get closer to the date there are a few minor details to consider. And yes one of them is underwear. What to wear for what days? Every piece of underwear has its place. For example I would never wear a pair of silk lacy panties for a 5 km run.... So here it is I thought I would do some blog thinking and maybe get some input on what to wear. Now don't be shy - we all wear it. Well most of us do....

OK so we leave on a Saturday considering the early morning flight and the buffet that we will be having once we arrive I think it will have to be the comfy but stylish jockey panties as seen here:

Sunday we will be leaving downtown and heading to the strip to spend the rest of our stay at the Monte Carlo. That means a bit of moving and a little exploring so I need something comfortable that won’t crawl up where it's not suppose to. So with that in mind sometimes its better just to have it there in the first place....

Actually they aren't that bad!!!

Monday well that might be Green Valley Ranch and the afternoon Las Vegas Talk Meet - so what to wear. Hmmm sitting on the shuttle and sitting with my LV Talk friends hipsters would be great! They are perfect for the low rise shorts and skirts...

Tuesday we will probably meet up with some friends of ours from Vegas and go out shopping or for supper. By then I will have had a few buffets and other bad food - not to mention the liquor.... So I might go for the grannies - yes most women have them. Heck if Bridget Jones can wear them and still be sexy so can I!!!!

Wednesday will be another busy day of exploring on our own pace. So by then I may have done some shopping and found a cute pair that would be great for hiking around!

Thursday of course will be a sad day - we leave at midnight so I will have to have a pair that will last me while I am in Vegas as well for the long flight home. Hmmm this one is a little tougher but I would probably go for the jockey style again (see Saturday)

So what is left? Well I have yet to try these new boy cut panties - they look great - of course 'cause they are on some 20 year old model.... But you never know until you try...

Oh yeah and those body shapers that help smooth out your body. Great if you don't plan to eat (or pee). I've worn them before - but I won't in Vegas. I'm there for fun and putting myself through pain is second or third....

So any suggestions? I know this is sort of a silly topic - but once you are on a plane for three hours or in a car for eight - you realize how important it really is to make the right choice!!!

And special thanks to the Peanut.....

T - 37

OK so what's the plan? I'm sure Robbie already has one done up. As for me - I plan to arrive drop off my luggage walk over to the Main Street Station for brunch and then let the fun begin. After getting my fill of food and champagne. I look forward to watching the wonder in my friend's eyes as he soaks in the sights and sounds for the first time. There is nothing like traveling with a Vegas Virgin. My biggest challenge will be to sit back and let him enjoy. Well I am sure at some point the boys will wander off and do some guy things - so that will be pool time for me! I haven't really shopped much on the strip - but after talking to my friend Alora I think I might give it a try this time around... Hope that I win money, there is a "little" shoe store at Bellagio that I would like to try! Always try but I'll never buy (unless Punter comes along with me...)

Right now we have a few things set to do - no shows.
Gamble
Enjoy the Monte Carlo Pool
Check out the south end of the strip (seems I've never been to the Luxor)
Otherwise play it by ear

Drink and Plan - hmmm should be fun!

Three Things I don't want to do in Vegas:
3. Sit and listen to Time Share People
2. Waste my time sleeping
1. Regret any thing I do

Just a little side note about the kid thing - I'm not a big fan of bringing small children to Vegas - just scares me that something could happen to them. And a special thanks to my favorite Peanut for helping me put this together. You are my muse!

The Shhh is Bananas and T - 39

Do you ever wonder why people get so worked up over things that won't mater in the long run. But of course right now they are sooo important. Somedays I think it would be great to settle our issues out on the playground. No hidden agendas just put everything out there. But I guess that is why we grow up - to play different games. And speaking of games - I have a few favorites from Vegas. I did try my hand at blackjack and had fun doing so at Slots A Fun and Casino Royale. I'm sure everyone hated me 'cause I had no idea what I was doing. After that I stuck mostly to the slots, I really didn't want to piss anyone off.
Slotto - ahhh memories - a penny slot at the Barbary Coast. It was heaven. Close to the entrance so you could still hear and feel the sights and sounds from the strip. It kept me playing forever on $20 and well watered. I must say when I first saw it - I thought who would play that annoying game. Well....me so it seems.
After that I loved monopoly. Ahh the good old days.... Well they are here again. In only 39 days I will be Vegas having the time of my life! No one can stop my fun (well technically alot of people could spoil it so I should shut my mouth...)
I am looking forward to a little meet we have set up in August over at the Polo Towers Lounge. Although I will miss some of my favorites like WordLady, Alora, Mychal, Peanut and yes you Bulldog! I'm sure it still will be fun....
Well I have work to do - so I better get back at it - I want to be able to pay for the trip so back to work I go.....

Oh and PT I love you links keep it up! Sorry JJ - you got great links too.

T - 46

Thanks to Bulldog for reminding me of an ad that we use to see driving to work - Pork the One you love.... Nice. Well that's the kind of wacko humor we have where I'm from. Canada has produced some great comedians - but why are we so funny? Is it cause if we stoped to think about our situation we would probably cry??? Well maybe it's not that bad. When I go to Vegas I thought I shouldn't be so Canadian - I should avoid the whole, yes I have a dog sled and live in an igloo story and come clean. Should I say my government made an unpopular choice not to join the war in Iraq? (OK to that point you must realize our army consists of four submarines and about 30 tanks - did you really want our help?) The last time we visited was shortly after the whole freedom fries things - so I tried to keep my Canadiana low profile. Which is like trying to heard cats - impossible. I must of stuck out, with my huge smile every where I went and my eyes as big as saucers I'm sure I stood out. After hanging with a Texan for a night I seemed to have picked up the accent to the point where a dealer actually asked me if I was from Texas.... Well no I replied - I'm from Canada (so much for going under the radar...) No one seemed to care - except a cabbie who went on and on about how angry he was at Bush - I just kept my mouth shut and tried to enjoy the ride.

In 47 days I will be just arriving in Vegas and enjoying the smell of liquor, cigarettes and sin! What's not to love? That is what happiness is about. We are staying downtown the first night at the Las Vegas Club here is their website.

If you want to check out what's on when we are in Vegas here is a listing of shows.

I'm home sick today from work - just not feeling well. Plus it will be 33 out today (for you Americans that is hot!) Time to prime up for the Vegas heat and maybe get rid of those tan lines... Hope you have a great day

Signed you know who....

T - 47

So here it is 47 days away - time to start looking at how much money we have saved up and where we need to cut corners. Food is one place that I usually don't spend too much. I prefer to snack - I can't really eat enough at a buffet to justify the cost - however we usually go to a couple on our trip. My buffet experience in Vegas is limited - I've only gone to three - so my top three is only based my personal experience and it goes like this:
3. Flamingo (won't do that again)
2. Bally's (Not bad)
1. Main Street Station (Had breakfast buffet - best out of the three - plus the champagne helped)

Also it is time to look at the lay out of a few casino's - check this link out.

Work is so busy - who would have thought that being a secretary would be so crazy? But busy is as busy does. Or something like that.

The weather here is hot and humid - and I'm at work - that sucks! Would love to be at home or the lake right now getting rid of all the tan lines... Oh the neighbors will have to wait another day...

Short and sweet or so they say - but that's all for now folks...

T - 51

Won't be able to blog much this weekend - busy times. Summer is always so crazy when we get good weather we try to make the most of it. Well sometimes a little too much fun can be had. Ahh the days at the lake - good times. Hard to plan for a good time - they just seem to happen. The best parties are the ones that we don't plan. Always have a good time with certain people - I am lucky girl to have such good friends. Isn't it interesting how friends belong to different parts of your life? The strange thing is when they meet - sometimes it's good - other times bad, very bad. Sort of taints the whole experience. I was just thinking about my work friends, social friends and my drunk friends. Most of them read this so I don't want to give too many examples... All these different worlds going on and trying to keep them straight is sometimes tough.
So Vegas is only 51 days away. Time for me to start planning hair cuts and stuff like that so I will be good to go for the big day. I like to plan ahead - but maybe not what I'm going to wear this far out for the first day in Vegas.... Hmm sound like anyone I know???
The Family Guy is on - it has really gotten racy ----
Alright so this has been pretty ho-hum(too worn out from the Las Vegas Talk Board) so far so I thought I would add a link that a friend sent me -- let's see what you can do.

Have a great night and weekend. Party like you are living life to the fullest!

T - 52

It was a dark and stormy night - well not really. There was a storm - but not really dark... It is over now and it is nice to have a bit of thunder and lightning.
I have started thinking about the current temp in Vegas - 100 degrees! Wow! So what will it be like in 52 days? Hot - so hot I can't imagine. Probably hot enough that there aren't enough clothes to take off to get cool! What do people wear in such weather? Steaming outside and air conditioning cold inside??? Pool time will be a must! So what is the pool etiquette for reserving a lounger down at the pool for your other friends who are still passed out? Hope someone out there can give me an answer - I'm at a loss!!!

So this is our pool - I think and hope! Can't wait to give it a try. Problem is going with three people is that not everyone wants to do the same thing all the time. We have all agreed to be open to go on our own to do our own things but.... I’m probably over analyzing here and getting a little too serious. Can't help it, one of those nights.

Ahhh the secretary in me has an agenda to follow and self-pity is not on it. So before I bid you goodnight I thought I would rate my top three pools

Top 3 Pools
3.Banff Hot Springs (I always thought something dirty could go on beneath all that steam)
2. Bally's
1. TBD!!!

Signed your favorite Secretary...

T - 54

So work has been busy - I am just getting ready to leave and it's 10:20 - wow! I haven't posted for a while so I thought I would take some time for an update. Couldn't resist the pictures - seeing that I'm here at work...

I can't believe that in 54 days I'll be in Vegas. Seems surreal especially since I am sitting here at work trying to get caught up. I look forward to relaxing and enjoying the freedom that Vegas allows - and perhaps win some money! Of course that may just be a dream - but you can always hope!

The greatest weekend just went by - wow! Beautiful weather at the lake, good friends and a great concert.,

So not only does Michael Buble have a great voice - he is just sexy. Not sure that it is one thing - but a combination of looks, sense of humor and that great voice! Wow - He walked past me in the casino following the show and smiled at me - wow! I think I may have to add him to my list. Too great! (Sorry I gushed there) Had a little win on the slot machine (thanks boys!) and fun with my friend. Great night. Sobered up and headed back to the lake to pick up the sun burnt family. Nothing like a screaming 6 year old girl with a burn on her back....
Not sure how you can top this - but summer is just starting.

I know this will be short but I'm tired and need to get home so I can make it back here in a couple of hours.

Top Three Secretarial Questions I've been asked:
3. Can you look up the phone number for 411?
2. Would you mind babysitting while I take this meeting...
1. Can you make an appointment with my proctologist?

Signed your favorite secretary...

T - 58

58 days - Wow about three months and I'll be off to Vegas. I am looking forward to it and hope that my life will be a little more on track by then. As I type this I am looking sideways at the screen - I have a kink in my neck. Have you ever looked at that on google images? Not good!

Besides the terrible kink in my neck my job is so busy right now that I don't even have time to train my temp! Crazy! Oh well another busy week ahead I have pushed my way into another Friday night at the lake (thanks JJ - I owe you!). Another Friday of drinking.... Really it's not always like this! Saturday I'm going with my sweet friend to see Michael Buble, Sunday is busy with a church event and the football game!, What is going on in my life. Shouldn't I be slowing down (OK so I'm not eighty - yet).

So in short I haven't had time to put anything together on Vegas. There will be no drunken blog's 'cause there is no computer out at the lake - lucky for you guys! (well at least the five of you that read this...). But there is hope on Saturday night - depending on how wild my girl friend and I get... It could be an interesting post.

Same bat station, same bat time.....

T - 61

So if it wasn't Vegas - where would I want to go? Well right now I think I am craving comfort (maybe cause my life is so busy). I would love to stay at a cabin - nice hot tub on the deck, fire place inside. Ahhhh.... Perhaps at the bottom of a ski hill.... OK so it isn't Vegas but right now it seems like heaven! There are days when I miss my parent’s cabin - it is remote and peaceful. Not a tourist trap - unless you like to hunt and fish. Then I'll probably be smelling you before I see you. (You'll understand if you have ever cleaned fish...)
There is something about a place with no phones and very few people. (OK this is soooo opposite from Vegas)

Don't get me wrong I love Vegas. There is something about the atmosphere and in August I will primed to go! I'm sure I'll make a drunkin' fool out of myself at some point on the trip. But not to worry I'm sure the people I'm going with will try to out do me. Who needs to go to a show - we will be the show!

Ahhh - well I must go eat lunch before it's time to go back to work.... Until next time I'll be wrapped up in a blanket in front of the fire. Or maybe in the hot tub watching the sunset. I know, I know I'll stop now.

Top Three Personal Get Aways
1. Parent's cabin
1. JJ's
1. Lac des Isle

Not really sure on the order - I like them all for different reasons.

T-63

Well here I am drunk.... I should be in Vegas. But no I am here sitting at my computer typing - what is up with that!! Had a few interesting offers, not bad for a woman who is 30 something. My fav of the night was - you've got the experience and I've got the stamina. Ha too funny. Well not sure how much experience I have - but I'll never know. It is sure tough to compare yourself to these 20 year old girls who looked pretty fine tonight. Sad - I am getting old.

It is almost 1 in the morning and I could sure use some grease in my belly! So I think I will put the top three foods to eat while drunk in Vegas....

Top 3 Foods to Eat while DRUNK in Vegas...
3. Deep Friend Twinkie (cause you wouldn't eat it sober)
2. Ho Dog (cause you wouldn't eat it sober)
1. The Steak and Egg breakfast special at Barbary Coast (ask for well done - trust me....)

Good night and please wish me a good day after..... And for those of you who continue to tell me what I think and what I should do on my holiday screw you. As Popeye says "I ams what I ams....."

T-65

What can I say - my life is a little scrambled right now. The good, the bad and the ugly all mixed together. Trust me it makes life interesting. At one moment life sucks and the next I might be getting a promotion. Oh well, this tell it like it is policy is not as easy as sounds. I've always been a little too honest for my own good...

As it turns out the more responsibility I take on at work the more dilemma’s that occur. I guess it is time for me to grow up and take responsibility. My boss asked me a simple question today that just about left me speechless (yeah - I know hard to picture...) "What are you interests?" Should be an easy question right? Well I just about said Friday night at the Pump and Vegas - but thought better of it. So here I am questioning what I really want to do. Guess this really isn't the place for that. I guess I'll put it all on red and see what happens.

OK back to Vegas....

Well I long for the carefree feeling of Vegas (sounds like a personal hygiene ad). But really I guess that is the draw for most people is the escapism. Just about anything goes in Vegas and all that jazz.

What I want to start doing is create a list of drinks to try in Vegas that I might not order here. I am open for any suggestions - please help me get drunk in Vegas!!!!

T - 68

OK So I have been a little busy lately and it looks like the week will be up and down. I don't expect to post too much for this week.... Let's just say this is another "Messed up Monday".

Just a footnote - Friday was great!!! Beer, Paralizers and a guy names Mike.... I'll write more later.

T-71

Remember Cheers where everyone knows your name? Well Vegas is a place where you can have any name you want. It's Vegas, baby! This is probably why it is sooo much fun. You don't have to be the person you are back home. It is all about the moment - not about worrying about going to work the next day. Vegas is different for every person. But I think for most it's about freedom to do just about anything and it's reflected in the atmosphere...

OK just a little side topic....

What is with computer people and fish tanks? Most 'IT' (Information Technology) have or had a fish tank some time in their life. And I'm not talking about some little goldfish - no this is serious stuff. So what would be the link between fish and computers??? OK let me say it is not my intent to ofend all my IT friends - just doing a little hypothesising...
So let's think about it - my source tells me it takes a week and some special drops to get the water just right, then you go out and buy all the pretty additions to the tank (you know the hidden treasure chest with bubbles). Once you have created the perfect environment you go out to the pet store and put your new family members in plastic bags for transport. Then the moment arrives - you bring them together. Yeah some of them might eat each other but survival of the fittest right? Once they have become accustom to their new home made of glass they may deciede to mate. Well then what? You'll have to seperate the parents from their young 'cause they might eat them!!!! Let's stop for a minute and consider what kind of world you are setting up to be master of? It brings a whole new thought to 'master of your own domain'.....
So if I understand it correctly you are the god in the fish world that brings food, cleans the poop and flushes the dead.... This is where reality shows started! I feel much better that I have that off my chest.

Check out the Numa Numa Dance that has taken the IT world by storm look over his right shoulder - notice the fish tank!!!!!!

Top Three Songs:
3. Three of us traveling to Vegas together. Similar to the movie Table for Three this isn't too unusual for us - we do lots of things as a threesome (well except that!) But it really got me to thinking about Three's Company. Well this would be a little reverse one girl and two guys so I guess that makes me Jack - now for the other two.... I can't really say don't want to offend either of them. You know what they say - if the man isn't happy then no one is happy.... Will it be near as comedic in Vegas as it was for the crew in apartment 201? Hmmm I guess we'll play the waiting game on that one.

Do you write on your napkin?

So what are the top three drinks to order in Vegas?
3. Well there are so many options that the question is how don't you spend all your money in Vegas?
I have a family member who is always trying to do things on the cheap. His latest find from the thrift shop or how vacationed for two months and spend less money than I will in seven days in Vegas.... So we were talking and he said I found a hostel you could stay at in Vegas. I looked at him like he was crazy and asked him how much do they charge. He said it was around $20 a night. My reply after pondering how to phrase this to him was - I can get a real room at a cheap motel for $25 and not have to sleep with five other people and have my own bathroom. To me that is not a holiday. That is more of a survivor challenge. Don't get me wrong I have stayed in my share of dives but really why??? You only live once and I would like to have a holiday where I am not worried about if I will live to talk about it.

There are plenty of cheap options in Vegas. There are some great web sites to check out, books to read and talk boards to visit.

Top 3 Cheap Places to stay in Vegas
3. Well of course everyone assumes it's love.... But is it? Really would you consider a place known as sin city as the city of love??? Personally I'm not sure - but it is the city of fun! Would lust me more suiting? How about looser - well we hope not....

I think loca would be the best. Cause it is the craziest place that I know of (hmmm that might not mean much). So lets go with loca and what are the craziest things about Vegas? Check out the top three.

Today the temp in Vegas was 38 degrees - wow! Hope we are ready for the heat...

Top 3 Crazy Vegas Icons:
3. Themes from Paris to Venice
2. Fair rides 100 stories above the strip (wonder what the carnies are like up there - hey Carl???)
1. The mix of the octogenarian crowd, hookers and you never know who might be the next big winner.

Wow - what a weekend

Much like life this weekend was filled with the good, the bad and the ugly.
Let's start with the ugly.
The weather - here it is a long weekend and it rains. Terrible winds that even made the kids want to stay inside. Not that we don't need the rain - but why on the first long weekend of summer?
The bad - well I guess that would be knowing that I'm off to work tomorrow.
The good - great times with friends. I had the best time on Friday night with my girlfriends! It was perfect weather and the atmosphere was fun. Met some quirky people that night - must be one at every after work drinking establishment. Saturday was a wonderful relaxing day spent in the house and a little bit out in the rain. Sunday we had a surprise phone call and headed out to the lake. Beautiful day! Nothing like sitting on the deck having a few cold beverages. Great day for everyone (I think..)

T - 80

Check out one of my new fav sites,
I love hearing it from the other side. Might leave you thinking - what was I thinking?,

Really it could be something good or really bad. But truth be known only you will know what happened - as long as you live by "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". Of course this may involve other people such as your banker or health care professional. Both of which are bound under privacy laws so you should be safe.
Doesn’t worry the glaring light of the sun will soon be covered up with the glow of neon and the smell of booze. It's all good in Vegas. And when you leave - you will have some vague memory but really it could have been a dream....

Top Three Reasons to keep what happens in Vegas in Vegas:
3. Self Respect
2. Only other Vegas lovers can understand
1. Everyone who has ever signed up for a players card in Vegas gets them. They offer you different deals, perhaps entry into a slot tournament. But what is a good deal and when should you book? Well nothing is final till you pay the bill so keeping that in mind, when you find something you find fits your needs book it! Some things you may want to consider when booking a hotel is price, location, theme and dining options.

Price:
Really in Vegas you can find anything from $30 a night rooms (I suggest you bring your own sheets...) to $3,000 a night and everything in between. A bunch of guys heading to Vegas to just get drunk and have fun probably don't care where they stay (as long as they are close to booze and women). An older couple probably wants a nice hotel away from these wild guys. There is a hotel out there for every price range so enjoy the options.

Location:
Well this is a little more interesting. Where do you see yourself in Vegas? Staying downtown or in the middle of the action on the strip. Either way this will be a big factor in making your choice. Another interesting factor in this area is the increase in popularity in off-strip casinos. Maybe when I get older I will stay at one of these - but for now I'm here for the party...

Theme:
What can I say there are some pretty tacky ones out there and others that take being high class as a theme. Personally this is not in my opinion a reason to pick a hotel. Unless by some mistake you are taking kids to Vegas and then of course some sort of theme would be appropriate.

Best places to check out deals would be on-line. Message Boards and web sites can be the best tools you can find.

Top Three Hotels NOT to stay at:
3. Circus, Circus
2. Westward Ho
1. Boardwalk......

T - 92

Well here it is Friday night and Mother's Day. I guess enough said - it will be a pretty low key weekend. So let me think about what I would be doing right now if I were in Vegas....

Friday 10:30 probably just be waking up and needing water
11:00 start getting ready
Noon head down to the casino grab a drink and some sort of food - play a bit
2:30 heat of the day - pool time(Maybe not in August)
3:30 Nap!
5:00 Get up and get ready for the night
6:00 Eat somewhere nice (at least one good meal a day...)
7:30 Play a bit and then head over to the Carnival Court at Harrah's

From here really let the cards fall as they may.... It really is more fun than it sounds. Love the sounds and sights of Vegas. Nothing like walking down the strip to the sound of slot machines, promo announcers and porn slappers. Ahhh it is great! Crazy is as crazy does in Vegas!

Well I thought I would focus a little more on downtown, since that is where I will be staying for the first night.
Downtown really brings out the old Vegas. You never know where you might end up or who you might meet. The casino's are older and there aren't any animals caged or any water leaks that they call rain.... It is straight forward gambling. No pretences. You get what you see and is it fun!
The Fremont Experience light show at night is OK, but what is really interesting is watching the people gather.

Top Three Reasons to go downtown:
3. It's where all the lights are bright...
2. Everything is closer together - no pretence
1. Downtown casino smell

T - 93

Do any of you who the sunmaid raisin girl? Well I do, in fact she's a real good friend of mine. I'm sure she is happy that I've posted this here - of course no names! Just wanted to make her famous...

Well yes here we are on day 93. Seems like a long way off until we reach the land of happiness. Here is a great site that will help you map out your trip. Anytime you want to have a look at what is really going on in Vegas check this out.

JOAT asked me what will I do when I reach the end of my countdown? Well really there is no end. There is always another trip around the bend to plan. For those Vegas-aholics out there you know what I mean.

I found of picture of someone who looks like a friend of mine on A Current Affair. Probably just cousins - this is Canada after all!

It is so beautiful here - perfect for a day out on the deck drinking. However it will turn into one of those busy days with family and yard word. Strange how that works.

Top Three Reasons not to have a countdown:
3.
2.
1.

T - 94

You ever have a day where nothing goes right?

Well that would be today. Glad to see it's over. There were a few highlights to the days events. My friends Grandma came over - very nice lady! Wish I could adopt her!

Don't want to dwell on the bad stuff - let's just hope it's over.

So I'll have to add more stuff later. Just not in the mood to put something together.

Top Three ways to make it through a bad day:
3. Kiss someone you love
2. Beat on an old pillow
1. Just think on 94 days and you'll be drunk!

T - 95

Death Worm in Vegas? So I have this friend who is big into this Death Worm.... What is next Loch Ness? OK so I really hope he is joking - but I thought I would add a picture of the worm itself. Like any good myth I think he will be raising money to begin a search in Nevada (Las Vegas to be specific). After many rumors I think he may be looking down the strip for such a worm....

OK so this is suppose to be Vegas based and so here is a site that you can be judge and jury. Have a look at this site.

A question of late has arrived - are you buffet worthy? Meaning is it worth while eating at a buffet, can you eat $30 worth of food? Well depending on the food I'm sure anything is possible. But really the answer is no I probably can't but if you average what I eat compared with Bubba the price works it's way out to be even. We will have to 'weigh' in the factors when we are in Vegas. Here is a list for your eating pleasure.

Top Three Reasons to Eat at a Buffet:

3. You can have shrimp!
2. There are usually milkshakes...
1. You don't get this kind of food at home.... Trust me.

T - 96

Alright so today's post will be a little off topic - thanks to my friend.

After watching the movie Sideways I've had a craving for wine so I thought I would spend a little time on the subject.

For those of you like me who don't know a lot about wine, other than the after effects, I thought I would include a little tasting help.

I was impressed by the selection of Canadian Wines and that there are even two on the website from Saskatchewan. Granted they are fruit wines.
This leads to the next question - is there a wine you wouldn't drink? How about something bubba made? Interesting White Trash Wine.... If you really want to see some rednecks have a look at this site.this site.

Looks like we will be having a wine tasting sometime in June... Stay posted for all the details...

Top Three Reasons to drink:
3. Your friends make you
2. It's fun and friends are funnier
1. Why not???

T - 100

Well time is sure going quickly... Yeah, right! If you do need a Vegas slot fix click here. Sometime that is how I feel after playing for a while!

How are you getting there? Driving, flying, hitching? Well for those of you who will be trusting your life to a large hunk of metal and a couple of drunk guys flying way up high scope this out.

Old Vegas Photos if you would like to find out some history this is a neat site. Since it the Centennial year it might be nice to check out some of the stuff now. (Once you are in Vegas you will be too busy drinking to investigate)

OK it's Friday night. So what are you doing to celebrate for the weekend? Since the famous friend is not coming down this weekend it should be a pretty tame night. It will be a night spent indoors playing cards and drinking a few 'light' beverages....

Here is the top 3 ways to spend the weekend with out JJ:
3. Invite friends over and save money
2. Actually go to bed before the sun comes up
1. Work - yes there is work to be done around the house

Have a great one....

T - 101

Well as we near the double digit count I thought I would post some various Vegas items. The Wynn opens today. Should be a sight to see on the strip. But really it is just another place to loose your money. Again Vegas is about the hopes and dreams that you might "Wynn" so you may as well do it in style!

Another item you might want to have a look at is the Best of Vegas site.

Children in Vegas. OK so this is a hot topic.... What do I think about it, well since you asked! I really do love kids but it seems to me that there are some place that aren't appropriate to take kids to. For example I would never take my kids to an adult video shop, casino or bar. Well it seems to me that is what Vegas is all about. So if you want to bring your kids fine, but don't expect Vegas to change for the kids. Sure it went through it's family friendly stage which I think is finally over!

Pre-Vegas strategy. It is now time to come together and think about the real reason for the trip. Well to have fun of course! Why else would you be going? So what do you need to have fun in Vegas. Check out the top 3.

Top Three Things you need to have fun in Vegas:
3. A little cash
2. A great attitude
1. No inhibitions

Enjoy the week!

T - 104

PLUS PLUS Equals A Great Time!!!

Well as I count the days until I can have unlimited fun and beverages with our worrying about how I am behaving I will remember this past weekend. It truly is the last minute spontaneous moments that are the best. We had 39 beer, a bottle of Kahlua, French Vanilla Creamer and a bunch of strawberries. Let’s just say this is an interesting combo...

Just think we will have 6 days of this in Vegas - I am not sure I can handle it! Time to start prepping for the fun days of Vegas.

Top three Vegas Primers:
3. A night at the Pump
2. An afternoon on patios of Rothwell
1. JJ's Place a weekend stay with Uncle Bob's special wine

I've got my crack!

Well I have done it - after working for a little over three days our bathroom is complete. Two toilets and one sink later I have earned my plumber's crack! Pretty impressive for our first home renovation totally on our own. All we need now is for our good friend to come down and christen the bowl. Which I am sure will not be a difficult task after a night at the Pump!

Top Three Reasons to celebrate tonight:

1. We are done Reno’s
2. After this we know we will be moving
3. Yeah! Work has been crazy and same with things at home so here I am finally doing an update.
I have spent lots of time on the Las Vegas Talk Board. My home away from home. It is great to spend time with like minded people and a great way to distract myself in the midst of life chaos.

So what is next? I know people love their dogs but really check this out! Can you imagin I don't even have a camera to watch my kids 24/7 who watches their dog at work? OK I'm on the LV talk board all day but that's different....

What is like here - well check out our airport small but its not all about size now is it?

Alright here it is The Top 3 Reasons why you should not do your own renovations:
1. You will have no one else to blame
2. You have to do all the work yourself
3. You have to call some to fix your mistakes...

How can you tell we are in the middle of home reno's????

T - 117

Hmmm...just finished watching American Casino as I try to get my Vegas fix. What were these people thinking? Who doesn't plan an exit strategy after a large event??? And how can they allow Ninya to go around and boss everyone around in a towel? Sorry - for those of you who don't watch never mind...
I spend my breaks at work looking at LV talk boards living and learning. What I don't get are people who go to Vegas and don't gamble? Now in reality I don't have a large bankroll and I'll never be called a whale (at least not in Vegas talk). But I'm there to gamble and have a great time. It bothers me when I hear about people who go for a business trip and get that look on their face like they just drank some bad milk. Give me a break! These are the no fun people - they wouldn't know fun if it hit them square in the face.
Sorry my rant is done...
Check out our Hotel. This is the Monte Carlo from the air - looks pretty small.... Size is important in Vegas - things are larger than they look and farther away!
Here is something else to keep you busy until your next trip.

Top 3 things to do at T - 117 days
1. Drool over other people's trip reports
2. Get drunk - can't hurt to stay in shape
3. Get to work - you still have to earn money to spend in Vegas!

T - 119

Hotels, airfare, shows, blah, blah, blah. Now really lets get into the good stuff!
Why do people go to Vegas? Really it is the atmosphere. You can gamble anywhere, go to a show just about any where and you can get drunk right now at home. So why Vegas? It seems obvious to me that when you put all the elements together - drinking, gambling and people who want to party you get a mix that is unbelievable. There is no way to explain what it's like - you have to try it.

So top three this week:

1. Start drinking - build up your tolerance
2. Learn how to deal with a hangover - Vegas doesn't stop 'cause you're puking
3. Learn how to pace yourself - trust me!

The Vegas Trip

It all started when we returned from our last Vegas trip. That is the best time to start planning for the next one! This time we are taking along a Vegas Virgin. Like many things there is nothing like your first time. Although he has done lots of listening and looking on-line there is no way to replace the experience. I remember my first time.... enough of that we are talking about the next trip.
In only 17 weeks I will be enjoying a cold beverage playing some slot machine or at a blackjack table in the air-conditioned comfort of some casino! I can't wait. Not to say that Vegas is for everyone - but it is for me so if you don't like Vegas don't read this blogg.
I will be posting my countdown and top five on a regular basis and look forward to your comments (I think...).
Pass along any Vegas info that you find helpful!

T-121

Well this is the start to my Vegas Count Down. I have spent most of my time checking out the Las Vegas Talk boards so I thought I would start my own countdown list.
So here it is - what is there to do when you are a 121 days out. Seems far away but it is time to start preparing airfare/hotel/shows. Research time! Get to know what is where on the strip and what you think you would like to see/do. This is so when you are wandering around in an inhebriated state you might remember where you are which direction you need to go to find your hotel.

F

Top Five Things to do at T-121:

1. Shows??? (if you really must waste valuable drinking/gambling time)
4. Women - it's time to count the weeks so you can time your hair/nail/tanning appointments to co-inside with the Vegas trip.
5. Check out the Las Vegas Trip Reports at www.a2zlasvegas.com

That wraps it up here.
